Manchester United secured their place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on Saturday as they defeated Huddersfield Town 2-0 at the John Smith’s stadium.

The match was not without controversy as VAR made headlines once again.

Juan Mata thought he had scored the Red Devils’ second goal before half-time, but it was disallowed after the video assistant referee stepped in.

Replays showed that Mata appeared to be marginally offside, but it was a very tight call.

The ruled-out goal did not affect United’s FA Cup run, though, as Romelu Lukaku scored his second of the night after the break to send the club into the final eight.

Not long after the referee’s whistle blew, the quarter-final draw was made, and Jose Mourinho’s side were given a rather favourable meeting with Brighton.

The North-West outfit were also selected as the home team, which gives them an even bigger advantage.
