Man Utd table £100m+ offer to sign Real Madrid star

da wazamba: It’s a big few months for the Red Devils. Their first priority will be securing a Champions League spot during the interim reign of Michael Carrick. From a financial and sporting standpoint, a return to Europe’s elite competition would be undeniably crucial when the summer arrives.

Then, INEOS must name their next permanent manager. They’ve bought time with the appointment of Carrick until the end of the season, but they must use that time wisely.

To that end, a number of potential options have already emerged, including Thomas Tuchel and Roberto De Zerbi. The former is on course to leave England when his contract expires at the end of the World Cup and that’s when the Red Devils could make their move.

De Zerbi, meanwhile, needs no introduction to the Premier League and has impressed Old Trafford chiefs ever since his stint at Brighton & Hove Albion. Now at Marseille, he has only grabbed further headlines.

Once their new manager is in place, it will be all about backing their man in the transfer market for INEOS. This Man United side still have glaring weaknesses ahead of the summer window, especially in midfield, and recent rumours suggest that the focus will be on reinforcements in that area.

Elliot Anderson has quickly become one of Man United’s top targets as a result, but interest from elsewhere could yet force them to look towards a South American superstar instead.

According to reports in Spain, Man United have tabled an offer to sign Federico Valverde worth €120m (£104.5m), as they look to transform their midfield.

£100m+ Valverde would transform Man Utd

If INEOS want to make a statement in the summer then signing Valverde would do exactly that. The Uruguay international is one of the best midfielders in world football, but has recently found himself at right-back amid Real Madrid’s injury issues.

As much as it has been an unavoidable position change, the South American is unhappy playing right-back and is reportedly keen to leave Madrid in favour of a project which features him at the heart of midfield.

That’s where Man United could take full advantage. Valverde would instantly become the midfield leader that the Red Devils lack, ending Manuel Ugarte’s Old Trafford career in the process.

INEOS have proved that the lure of Old Trafford is still alive and well over the last 12 months and that may yet see another Real Madrid star complete a move to Man United, following the path trodden by Casemiro, who called Valverde “unbelievable” during their time in the Spanish capital.
